The Stock Controller at a large Sephora store is responsible for overseeing and managing the inventory of beauty and cosmetic products. They play a crucial role in ensuring efficient stock management, accurate record-keeping, and timely replenishment of products. The Stock Controller works closely with the store management team to optimize stock levels, minimize stock discrepancies, and support the overall operations of the store.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of stock levels, including tracking incoming and outgoing shipments, monitoring stock movements, and conducting regular stock counts. Collaborate with the purchasing department to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained to meet customer demand.
  • Replenishment and Ordering: Monitor stock levels to identify low stock situations and initiate replenishment orders to ensure product availability. Coordinate with suppliers and the distribution centre to place orders, track deliveries, and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Stock Organization: Ensure proper organization and storage of products in the stockroom. Implement efficient stock rotation practices to minimize expired or damaged products. Conduct regular audits to identify and address any discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on stock levels, stock movements, and inventory discrepancies. Analyse data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for process improvement. Provide recommendations to the store management team for optimizing stock levels and minimizing stock losses.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to ensure they have accurate and up-to-date information on product availability. Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to ensure the effective display of products on the sales floor. Support different categories on shopfloor, when asked to.

 

Skills:

  • Inventory Management: Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, including stock counting, stock rotation, and stock replenishment. Ability to maintain accurate records and manage large quantities of products effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough in tracking stock movements, conducting stock counts, and identifying discrepancies. Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in record-keeping and stock management.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analysing data, identifying trends, and generating reports. Ability to interpret data to make informed decisions and recommendations for optimizing stock levels and improving inventory management processes.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, store management, and cross-functional teams. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address inventory discrepancies, resolve stock-related issues, and implement corrective actions. Ability to think critically and make decisions under pressure.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain a well-organized stockroom and ensure efficient product storage.
  • Knowledge of Beauty and Cosmetic Products: Familiarity with beauty and cosmetic products, including brands, categories, and industry trends. Understanding of customer preferences and demands in the beauty retail sector.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable working with inventory management software and spreadsheet applications to maintain records, generate reports, and analyse data.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
