We are recruiting for a physically strong, experienced Warehouse Operative with a can-do attitude to join the City Hire family today! Immediate position available

As Warehouse Operative you will be responsible for picking, vehicle dispatch and goods-in. You will need to deliver and sustain customer, business, and statutory requirements, to an excellent standard; whilst acting as a role model for our company values. You will also ensure that all resources are utilised efficiently, to maximise throughput and minimise costs. Whilst also ensuring the stock integrity of the warehouse is audited, controlled, and managed. You will be working alongside and reporting into the Warehouse Manager, to manage the day-to-day tasks within your depot.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Picking of all items to fulfil orders from available stock, including clear communication of requests to Workshop or other Depots for transfers

- Primary responsibility for OHS across Yard & Warehouse

- Load & dispatch vehicles and support with unloading and checking of all returns

- Goods-in management

- Maintain a highly organised working environment with clear demarcation of spaces, clear walkways & clear labelling

- Responsible for all warehouse, yard and returns bay area for workshop

- Uphold the standard of inspection and hire readiness of all off-hired non-mechanical kit

- Communicate and coordinate with internal departments.

- Collaborate with the wider City Hire team to ensure a smooth running of the service.

- Assisting in the orientation and the training of new team members.

- Other tasks and duties as commensurate to the post / grade and per specific contract requirements.

Software Knowledge and Level of Proficiency

- Good computer skills, including MS Word & Outlook

- Ability to analyse data in Excel and oversee compilation of budget

-Syrinx Software experience is highly advantageous

Key Performance Indicators:

- Tidy, clean and organised workspace

- Strong warehouse productivity (or outputs per person)

- Vehicle dispatch time

- Zero or minimal ‘Brand Promise Failures’ (or GER)

Qualifications

- Forklift – highly advantageous

- IOSH training – highly advantageous

- Lean methodology desirable

Experience:

· 5+ years ‘experience in a depot/warehouse role

· Previous experience with handling tools and equipment desirable

· Previous experience of checking loads in/out

· Proficient knowledge of depot/warehouse procedure and policy

· Proven experience working within a role with clear responsibility for H&S

· Innovative, forward thinking, able to think ‘outside the box’ and generate new opportunities for improvement.

Skills:

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages.

· Clear communication.

·Organisation skills and previous experience in setting up WMS or similar depot/warehouse management systems (i.e. labelling, or lean systems to deskill the job for the team)

· Ability to work consistently under pressure

· Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and very good communication skills

· Friendly and adaptable attitude

· Ability to multi-task and prioritise.

· Appreciation and an interest in providing good customer service

· Team player with the ability to instill confidence and drive in others.

Personal Qualities:

You will be a logical thinker with a methodical approach to tasks who takes responsibility for what you do. You are someone that is hands-on, experienced with heavy goods and physically fit.

Under pressure you will be calm and logical with a determination to get things done, even in the face of strong adversity. The standard you expect of yourself and others will be considered high and you’ll strive for you and the team to always achieve them.
