Job description

Job Title: Restaurant Waitress/Waiter

Place of Work: Skylon Restaurant (Royal Festival hall) Belvedere Road SE1

Purpose: To engage with guests and provide the service of food and drinks to guests in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsible for: The smooth running of the section allocated for you on the day of service and ensuring the guests have a memorable dining experience

Responsible to: Head Waiter, Assistant Managers, Restaurant Manager, Assistant General Manager, General Manager Executive Chef, Sous Chef

Main Duties:

  • To be punctual at all times and ready for work.
  • To report directly to the management team on a daily basis to make them aware that you have arrived for work.
  • To have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all items listed on the menus, including daily specials, wines and unavailable items.
  • To provide a speedy, efficient and professional level of service at all times.
  • To take and process food and drink orders in the manner explained during training.
  • To ensure all customer bills are correctly prepared, presented and processed as well as closed off at the end of every service.
  • To be hands-on and present in the restaurant at all times during service.
  • To ensure that all service ware/equipment is properly cared for, cleaned and prepared for every service.
  • To ensure that appropriate stock levels and mis en place are maintained before start of service.
  • To ensure that the highest possible levels of hygiene are maintained at all times and that cleaning rotas are adhered to.
  • To maintain the highest possible standards of personal hygiene and appearance and to be dressed in clean correct uniform always.
  • To deal with any guest allergies with the utmost care and inform a senior member of the team and the kitchen .
  • To ensure the highest levels of cleanliness, hygiene and safety at work at all times in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1977.
  • To report any guest complaints or comments immediately to the management immediately.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned and be prepared to work in any other departments at Skylon.
  • To understand and adhere to the company policy as outlined in the staff hand book.
  • To work as a team player at all times and be prepared to be flexible in order to ensure that operations are always as efficient and profitable as possible.
  • To attend daily briefings and ensure any operational issues are discussed.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Permanent

Pay: Up to £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
