The Catering Stores Assistant is responsible for maintaining food safety standards, accurate stock levels, and a smooth day-to-day operational flow.
This is a practical, hands-on position suited to someone who is highly organised, works well as part of a team, and takes pride in contributing to an efficient and well-run catering service.
The Role
- Receive and check deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Inspect deliveries for quality, temperature compliance, and any damage.
- Ensure correct storage of goods in line with food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory systems.
- Conduct regular stock takes and report any discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and inform management of shortages or overstocking.
- Minimise waste and support cost-control initiatives.
- Distribute goods to kitchen and hospitality areas as required.
- Ensure store areas are clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Support catering teams during busy service periods where required.
About You
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or catering environment is preferred.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe storage practices.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Basic IT skills for stock control systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move deliveries safely.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- High attention to detail.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Positive and proactive approach to work.
