Part Time Laundry Assistant Job
Job Type - Part Time
Salary - £13.45 per hour
Location - Maple Dene Birmingham
The Laundry Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents living with dementia. You will ensure all laundry is processed to a high standard, handled with dignity, and returned promptly, helping residents feel at home and well cared for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute residents’ personal clothing, bedding, and towels in line with infection‑control procedures.
- Label and organise residents’ garments to prevent loss and ensure items are returned to the correct person.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any faults promptly.
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines, including correct handling of soiled or contaminated items.
- Maintain cleanliness of the laundry room, machines, and storage areas.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a laundry, housekeeping, or care‑home environment is helpful but not essential.
- Understanding of infection control, safe manual handling, and health & safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills and a compassionate, resident‑focused approach.
- Patience and empathy when supporting individuals living with dementia.
