We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Warehouse Shift Operative to join our dynamic Air Freight team. You will play a vital role in ensuring freight is received, handled, stored and dispatched safely, efficiently and in line with aviation security, HMRC and health & safety regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with warehouse or logistics experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering high standards of accuracy, safety and customer service.
Please note that this is a permanent night shift position, working 6:00pm to 6:00am on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern,
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, process, handle and dispatch air freight in accordance with customer requirements and company procedures.
- Load, unload and move freight safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure all shipments are correctly identified, labelled and supported by accurate documentation.
- Carry out daily equipment and safety checks, reporting any defects immediately.
- Operate material handling equipment (MHE) safely and responsibly where authorised.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring work areas remain clean, organised and safe.
- Follow all company policies, standard operating procedures and compliance requirements.
- Adhere to aviation security, HMRC and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Report damaged, missing or discrepant freight without delay.
- Escalate any safety, operational or compliance concerns to supervisors and management.
- Support the achievement of operational targets, service levels and dispatch deadlines.
- Contribute to a positive safety-first culture by reporting hazards, incidents and near-misses.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous warehouse or cargo handling experience within an air freight environment.
- A strong commitment to health and safety and following procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling documentation, freight labelling and shipment checks.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A reliable and professional approach with excellent timekeeping and attendance.
- Willingness to work permanent night shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota.
- Ability to undertake manual handling duties and work in an active warehouse environment.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment or forklifts would be beneficial, although training may be provided.
- A proactive attitude with the confidence to identify and report safety or operational issues.
