Retail Assistant Job
Salary - £28,585 per annum pro rata
Location - South Kensington
About the role
It’s a fantastic time to be part of the museum. The natural world is evolving fast and we're making critical choices at a time when people are more disconnected than ever before from their physical environment. As a world-leading scientific institution and iconic visitor attraction, the Natural History Museum can help individuals, governments and society make better decisions for the future. All profits you help generate from the shops support the museum's work in inspiring future generations.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work of the Natural History Museum. As a Retail Assistant you will be working in a large team across our 3 permanent onsite shops, temporary exhibitions and pop-up shops. We need dedicated, energetic, friendly people with high street or heritage retail experience to become familiar with our operational processes, support the day-to-day needs of the shop floor to drive sales, and deliver an excellent customer experience at all times.
The normal opening hours of the shops are 10am-6pm, with standard shifts starting at 8am/10am, and you will be required to work every other weekend. You may be required to support special events out of these hours on ocasion.
About you
Your primary focus will be on delivering exceptional customer service and ensure that every visitor enjoys a memorable and engaging shopping experience. With record visitor numbers, this fast-paced environment requires adaptability, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Your strong communication skills and passion for service will be key in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our visitors. You’ll thrive on multitasking and working at pace, supporting your colleagues while consistently providing outstanding service.
There’s never been a better time to join us. With retail sales soaring and the Museum more popular than ever, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something truly special. If you’re motivated by success and eager to make a difference for our customers, we’d love to hear from you.
