Job Summary
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalised care to individuals in need. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being, and promoting their independence. You will work closely with clients in various settings, including home care, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Duties

  • Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Support clients with mobility and transfers to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Engage clients in social activities to enhance their quality of life and emotional well-being.
  • Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping to maintain a safe living environment.
  • Document client progress and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, particularly those experiencing dementia or other cognitive impairments.

Skills

  • Experience in home care or senior care is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices and the ability to support individuals with cognitive challenges.
  • Proficiency in medication administration and an understanding of health-related protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A caring attitude with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Previous experience in childcare or nursing is an advantage but not essential.
